Seventh generation 911(991) came in 2011 and has been here for few years. Recently a GT3 RS 4.0 version based on the same model was released. But now, it was a high time for an update. The Porsche initially will launch 911 Carerra and Carrera S. Apart from a minor facelift, it will receive a completely new twin-turbo engine. Porsche might receive some criticism from fans as 3.4-liter naturally aspirated engine will no longer be available.
The new 3.0-liter twin turbo engine develops 370 hp in 911 Carrera and 420 hp in 911 Carerra S. Both both have 20 hp more than the previous version. The rise in power is due to the introduction of twin turbochargers, a modified compressor and new exhaust system. The torque is also increased by 60 Nm. The 911 Carrera and Carrera S delivers 450 Nm and 500 Nm of torque respectively.
Due to the introduction of smaller 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine, fuel economy is also increased by 12 percent. Despite lower fuel consumption, acceleration time is also reduced. 0-60 mph is achieved in 4.2 sec and 3.9 sec for Carrera and Carrera S respectively.
Visually, there are some minor changes, among other things, the front turn signal has become leaner, taillights are partially redesigned and door handles and tailgate are also tweaked. Inside, the steering wheel has been replaced with one similar to Porsche 918 spyder and Macan SUV. The infotainment system updated and is now equipped with Apple Car Play. A great news for the Carrera models is that they now can be equipped with four-wheel steering which was previously only been available in the top 911 GT3 and 911 Turbo models. The 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera models will be available in Showrooms recently and will be followed by cabriolet versions next year.
