Maserati has made a clever move for future and to make sure company earns more profit from Auto industry by launching its all new Ghibli sedan. Maserati has recently previewed its entry level premium sedan at Shanghai Motor Show. The new model is built on a shortend platform of flagship model Quattroporte which also have served as an inspiration for the design. Maserati is aiming high with model as the company plans to sells 50,000 units a year. This also mark a new beginning in company’s history as Ghibli will be equipped with a supercharged V6 diesel engine.
The Maserati Ghibli will have an initial range of only six-cylinder engine and automatic ZF eight speed transmission. The are no specific details about the power and performance of the engines. The V6 bi-turbo gasoline engine will more likely to be carried from Maserati Quattroporte which develops 410 hp and 550 Nm of torque. On the other hand the diesel V6 is assumed to be sourced from Fiat Group’s Lancia Thema with a power output of 275 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Maserati Ghibli measures 4970 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2990 mm.
The interiors are fresh and has luxurious finish. The materials used are of expensive high quality materials ans different architecture front, compared to older model. It has unique center console, steering wheel and other equipment. All versions of the Ghibli will be assembled with a limited slip differential and optionally equipped adaptive suspension system, called by Maserati as Skyhook. The alloy wheels available will be 18,19,20 and 21 inches. Maserati Ghibli will compete with Audi A7, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, Mercedes CLS, Mercedes E Class, and Jaguar XF. Maserati Ghibli will go on sale, firstly in Europe later this year.
