The new Aston Martin Lagonda is created by special projects department. The same team is responsible for Vulcan and Vantage GT12. Only 200 units will be produced of this Ultra Luxury car. The body is made of carbon fiber and built by hand at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon. The car will be tailored to suit customers requirement. Under the hood is the same 6.0-liter V12 engine found in Raphide S. It is mated with six-speed automatic ZF transmission which sends power to rear wheels. The power is sufficient for Lagonda to reach 320 km/hr(198 mph).
It is now almost 40 years since Aston Martin launched the first Lagonda. Even at that time, it was among the most expensive in the world. Both the car’s design and technology was revolutionary. Lagonda was very advanced for its time with digital displays, computer systems and lots of touch buttons. Unfortunately, the advanced technology brings lots of errors and the car model eventually became a headache for all electronic hassles. It is often considered among world’s worst and ugliest cars. The 2016 Aston Martin Lagonda is built on a very reliable and tested platform and shares technology with other successful models from the carmaker. Initially it was thought that the car would only be sold in the Middle East, but despite the incredible price tag, the interest in the model has been so great that Aston Martin will offer the car in EU and South Africa. It is priced at 696,000 British pounds.
