Audi kicks off the car show in Detroit with a brand new concept car. It is called the Allroad Shooting Brake and becomes basically a mix between TT and the upcoming suv Q1. It is 4200 mm long which puts it in the same class as volkswagen Golf. Audi confirms that Allroad Shooting Brake is a tangible glimpse into the near future. We can thus expect that the design features will pop-up on several Audi models. The first will be the third generation TT, to be launched this year.
Audi Allroad Shooting Brake gets the aluminum and carbon fiber body to keep the weight down, but the curb weight is still 1600 kilograms. At the front is a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine that works together with an electric motor and sends power through a six-speed dual clutch transmission. At the rear is second electric motor that can transform the car to four-wheel drive when needed. The battery is located in front of the rear axle for better weight distribution.
In pure electric mode the concept can be driven upto 31 miles(50 kilometers). The combined power-train develops 408 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-60 mph comes in 4.6 seconds and the top speed is 155 mph. When driven carefully, it can deliver upto 1.9 liters/100 km(123.79 mpg). Apart from hybrid technology, the car displays a new interior design. This is the first time we get to see Audi’s new interior design. The large 12.3 inch MMI screen has moved in front of the driver. A nice detail is that the temperature and the seat heating is controlled by the knob located in the middle of AC vents. It is still to see, how much details from allroad shooting brake concept will carry on all new TT coupe/convertible and whether the entry level sportcar will have shooting brake power-train.
