Audi has launched the new S1 Quattro. The first pictures were presented a day before along with few details. But we now know that there will be two versions of S1. A five door «Audi S1 sportback quattro» and three door «Audi S1 Quattro». Audi has received criticism before because the models were too similar to each other and company decided to bring a change in that area. Future S and RS models will differ more from standard model they are based on, as told by cheif Audi designed Wolfgang Egger. Audi Sportback Quattro will be one off the first examples with muscular and sporty design.

The little beast from Audi gets all-wheel drive as standard and a 2.0 liter four cylinder turbo motor that produce 231 hp and 370 Nm(273 lb-ft) of torque. This is the same engine which is present in Golf GTI and it has been slightly tuned for better performance. Unlike conventional A1, S1 Quattro has a more sophisticated rear suspension which is shared with Audi TT. Also available onboard are electronically controlled shock absorbers known as «Magnetic Ride» which improves both traction and comfort. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard on S1 quattro along with optional dual-clutch S-tronic transmission. Audi S1 Sportback Quattro manages to reach 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds where as three door S1 Quattro does it in 5.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is listed at 7.0 liters/100 km for sportback and 7.1 liters/100 km for standard S1. The CO2 emmisions also differs and measures 162 gm/km for Sportback and 166 gm/km for S1.

S1 comes standard with 17 inch wheels, xenon headlights, a rear muffler with four tail pipes and LED taillights. An optional 18-inch alloys will also be available. Audi S1 Quattro will be available in four colors. It will be revealed at upcoming Geneva motor show alongwith face-lift version of A1.
