Bentley announced a more powerful S version of Continental V8 S which will add an additional 21 hp. Bentley continental GT V8 was launched in 2012 Detroit Motor Show with 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8 engine rated at 500 hp and 660 Nm(486 lb-ft). Now the more powerful version which will be showcased at upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The new version now delivers a total of 521 hp and 680 Nm(502 lb-ft) of torque at just 1,700 rpm.
The power gain will enable continental GT V8 S coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds which is 0.3 seconds quicker than the standard model. Maximum speed has also increased from 303 km/hr(188 mph) to 309 km/hr(192 mph). The convertible version is a little slower and executes 0-60 mph sprint in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 308 km/hr.
Despite of the extra performance, the coupe can travel 800 miles in one tank returning a combined cycle of 10.5 liter per 100 km(27 mpg) and CO2 emissions of 246 gm/km. There is a slight increase in convertible economy with 10.9 liter per 100 km(26 mpg). In addition to the increase performance, the S version comes with 10 mm reduced ground clearance, stiffer springs and updated stability control system. It will also be equipped with uniquely designed 20 inch wheel and an option of 21 inches is also available. Interior will receive V8 S badges and few customization options. The multimedia system with eight inch display and 30 GB hard-drive is standard. The delivery of Bentley continental GT V8 S is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
