Indians are not known to design great looking cars, but all is going to change with the introduction of Chevrolet Adra. Adra is a mini SUV designed by Indian designers at General Motors Technical Center India. It is based on Chevelot Spark/Beat hatchback. Currently GM has only shown a prototype model but production model would come with only few changes. The design is fresh and looks more elegant than it’s arch rival Ford Ecosport. Adra is a four door model which is the smallest SUV company has ever produced. The new prototype has been designed to have excellent off-road capability, plenty of space inside and great visibility from the driver’s seat.
At the moment, company has not yet confirmed about any technical specification relating to Chevrolet Concept Adra , but it could use a 1.3 liter multi-jet diesel with 77 hp. The top variants will be equipped with four wheel drive system. Small crossover/SUV market in India is growing very fast and many manufacturers are launching there product in the market. Ford has already launched Ecosport which is very well received in India. It also has a long waiting period of 4 to 5 months on selected models. Renault Duster is performing well along with newly launched Nissan Terrano. Honda will be launching mini SUV based on Brio soon. Chevrolet among other manufactures had not performed well with few models in it’s range. GM has to deliver good recipe to the customers to make them stick to brand and it seems like Adra crossover is going to change the brand image for the company.
