Ferrari will offer surprise fun for the Frankfurt Motor Show — the new 458 Speciale. The company would launch a stronger and faster version of the 458 Italia was no secret, and it was rumored that the model would be called Monte Carlo. But now we know that the name became 458 Speciale. This is a modern successor to the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia. Ferrari 458 italia was crazy but 458 Speciale is even more fiercer. The 4.5 liter V8 now has 605 horses (up from 570 horses in regular 458 Italia) at 9,000 rpm which means 135 hp/liter and peak torque is 540 Nm(390 lb-ft) at 6000 rpm. More power, less weight and slick aerodynamics are few of the supercar aspects. Speciale also received active aerodynamic elements which according to engineers is the most aerodynamically efficient production model in the company’s history.
Ferrari 458 Speciale is also 90 kg lighter than the regular 458 italia, and the curb weight is 1290 kg. According to the Ferrari, 458 Speciale is 1.5 seconds faster than the 458 Italia and only 0.5 seconds slower than the new 740 hp F12 Berlinetta. It accelerates 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds and 0-200 km / h in 9.1 seconds. In addition to lower weight and more power, Ferrari has also updated aerodynamics with new air intakes. The rear end features a larger diffuser and the three pipes has been replaced by two larger exhaust.
Another novelty added is Side-slip Angle Control, which uses traction control technology «F1-Trac» and «E-diff» to send the right amount of power to the rear wheel allowing drifts, but prevents loss of control over the vehicle due to the active rear differential. The new Ferrari 458 Speciale is the most aerodynamically efficient car in the company’s portfolio. It has a high lateral acceleration of 1.33 g, which is also the best result among all production Ferraris. The price of 458 Speciale is not revealed by the company and will be announced during the presentation at the Frankfurt motor show.
