Ferrari has officially unveiled its new supercar, which came to replace the 599 GTB Fiorano Coupe. The new supercar called F12 Berlinetta, and its world debut took place at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 .
Silhouette of a new supercar, in general does not seriously changed, but the appearance of the Ferrari F12 was developed from scratch. Attention is drawn to a wide central air intake, spoiler, optics model in the style of the FF and the ventilation slots in the hood. Round taillights of Ferrari F12 Berlinetta resembles Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, on each side of which there are two pipe exhaust system.
Ferrari paid special attention to the aerodynamics of a supercar, achieving an extremely low drag coefficient of 0.299. A clamping force acting on a coupe, has grown in comparison 76 percent as compared with its predecessor(up to 123 kg at a speed of 200 km/h). Such performance was achieved by Aero bridge technology which redirects the flow of air from the side front air intake through the wheel arches and air vents in the front wings on the sides and then on the rear fenders. Another aerodynamic tech allows car to increase the cooling efficiency of carbon-ceramic brakes. If the temperature rises to a very high value, additional air inlets are opened which directs air to the brakes.
In dimension Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is slightly smaller than its predecessor. It measures at 4618 mm in length, 1942 mm in width and 1273 mm in height. Thus, the new coupe to 47 mm shorter, 20mm narrower and 63mm lower than the 599 GTB. The new supercar is equipped with completely new chassis with space frame made of aluminum. The total mass of F12 Berlinetta 1525 kg, which is 70 pounds lighter than its predecessor.
Under the hood F12 berlinetta shares the same 6.3 liter V12 from Ferrari FF whose power and torque are boosted to 740 hp and 690 Nm respectively. The figures becomes more impressive with about 80 percent of thrust is available at 2500 rpm. The engine is mounted with seven speed dual cluth robotised transmission which enables Ferrari F12 Berniletta to accelerate from 0-60 mph on 3.1 seconds. Top spped of this supercar as claimed by Ferrari is 340 km/h making it fastest production ferrari ever.
At Geneva motor shows Ferrari has already got 360 orders of F12 Berlinetta. Price of new supercar starts at 2,75,000 euros and it seems to be a good deal as compared to 599 GTB. First delivery of Ferrari supercoupe will start from January 2013.
