Initially it was assumed that the supercar will be called Ferrari F70 and later under the project name F150, but in fact the model called much more unusual. Meet the new supercar LaFerrari.
What the two seater next to its spectacular design makes it so special is its engine. Ferrari uses the KERS system from Formula 1 and combines the 6.3 liter V12 engine developing 800 hp with an electric motor, which alone deliver 163 hp. Unlike a conventional hybrid vehicle, this electric motor is used only as a support during acceleration. As a result the total output is 963 hp and 900 Nm of torque at 9250 rpm. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is acheived in less than three seconds, 0 to 200 km/h under seven seconds and top speed exceeding 350 km/h.
The hybrid supercar measures 4702 mm in length, 1992 mm wide and 1116 mm high. Wheelbase of LaFerrari is 2650 mm and it carries weight distribution of 41 percent in front and 59 percent at back. The interior is all modern and instrument panel can be configured to display information in various ways. The body incorporates active active aerodynamic elements. According to Ferrari four types of carbon fiber are used in this supercar construction.
The electric motor is coupled to seven speed double clutch automatic gearbox. The battery weighs 60 kg and is positioned in the floor between the driver and the motor. It is recharged during braking or when the gasoline engine produces high end torque. It runs on 265/30 R19 front and 345/30 R20 rear tires. To stop this beast brembo ceramic brakes 398 mm at front and 380 mm at rear are used. The Calipers used are made of light weight material. The suspension is independent double wishbone at front and multi-link at rear. The basic equipment includes electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system (EF1-TRAC) and third generation electronic differential.
In recent times Ferrari has produced marvelous supercars like 458 italia and F12 Berlinetta and the new supercar is nothing short of a master piece. It is a direct rival to hyrbid powered Mclaren P1 and Porsche 918. Ferrari will run a limited production of 499 units. LaFerrari will be the fastest and most powerful road going model in the company’s history and probably also the most expensive, although there are no official price announced by the company but it can cost more than one million euros.
