In August 1879 at the bullring in Alicante, Spanish audience got to witness a rare angry bull — Huracan. The angry animal became a legend thanks to his invincibility. Lamborghini has previously named their cars after legendary fighters from the Spanish bullfight and the model name of the Gallardo’s replacement will be known as «Huracan LP 610-4». The name Huracan appear in Mayan mythology but in Spanish, it stands for a hurricane like storm. The new model replaces the faithful Gallardo introduced ten years back that became the best selling model from Lamborghini ever.
The new Lamborghini Huracan gets a 5.2 liter V10 engine that develops 610 hp at 8250 rpm. The maximum torque of V10 engine is 560 Nm at 6500 rpm. New Lamborghini LP 610-4 Huracan weighs 1422 kg (which is twelve kilos more than the Gallardo) and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds and further continues to accelerate 200km/hr in 9.9 seconds. Top speed is 201 mph. The V10 engine is now fitted to the new Euro-6 rules and consumption is down to 12.5 l/100 km under the EU driving cycle.
The only transmission available is a seven-speed dual clutch transmission with stop/start system alongwith four wheel drive system. The transmission is a further development of the dual clutch transmission from Audi R8 and has received few upgrades. If Huracan also will receive a manual option we do not know. The chassis of the Lamborghini Huracan will be a mix of aluminum and carbon fiber components. Large parts of the supercar is to be shared with the next generation Audi R8, which may have slightly longer wheelbase. On the outside, there would be no similarities between Huracan and R8.
Strada, Sport and Corsa are three different driving modes that can be selected through a switch mounted on steering wheel. Several systems are reconfigured when switching driving modes like shift points, throttle response, exhaust note and stability systems. Progressive power steering and even more advanced electromagnetic systems for cushion are optional. However, the ceramic brakes standard on the model.
On the inside, the new digital instruments are introduced along with 12.3-inch screen. It displays lot of information from speed to multimedia and navigation. The display can be configured according to preference. The entire interior is made of nappa leather and alcantara and there are lots of individualisation options. The car will have its world premier at Geneva in March and deliveries will start shortly after.
