At Detroit Motor Show, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann confirmed that the concept car Urus has been given green light by the management of the VW Group. It has already been two years since Lamborghini Urus Concept was shown at 2012 Beijing motor show. The market for luxury suv continues to expand, said Stephan Winkelmann to journalists and therefore it is felt that there is a space. Designer Filippo Perini has managed to transfer the design language to SUV model without losing the character. Lamborghini urus will share technology with Bentley EXP 9F along with next generation Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7.
Not many facts are relased regarding the power-train of Lamborghini Urus. Power will come from V10 source developing 600 hp and we assume it will share engine and technology with Lamborghini Huracan. Urus is 4990 mm long, 1990 mm wide and is only 1660 mm tall. The Italian firm is very ambitious with the new model as their target is to sell 3000 copies a year, which is by far the largest for any model by the company. The most important markets for Lamborghini Urus will be mainly China, North America, Russia, Europe and Middle East.
