With entry level premium crossover segment growing day by day every manufacturer is keen to have one product competing in this class. Even Lexus wants to be in the race and is going to display LF-NX concept in upcoming Frankfurt motor show. It is a potential rival to BMW X1/X3, Mercedes GLA and Audi Q3/Q5. The most striking is perhaps is the design which follows the Lexus design language and introduction of new features. Lexus grill is bigger than ever and the body is full of folds and shapes. The company confirms that LF-NX can be put into production as long as the audience would agree that the car looks great. There is no doubt that this concept is meant to provoke and get attention, which it undoubtedly will have at the IAA.
The technology which will run the car is from Lexus ES 300h, which is a hybrid and currently on sale in United States. A 2.5 liter petrol engine with 160 hp is supplemented by an electric motor which helps the vehicle to deliver total output to 200 hp. The interior offers a leather upholstery along with a new infotainment system. The production ready car could possibly get all-wheel drive, but the LF-NX concept is front wheel drive. The small crossover segment is very important in Europe, USA and Asia and therefore it would not be surprising if Lexus will approve series production of LF-NX in 2014.
