Now it is time to say goodbye to old Chrysler 200 sebring and welcome a whole new generation. The finished model will be showcased at upcoming Detroit Motor show, but already few details along with pictures are leaked. New generation Chrysler 200 is based on Fiat’s platform and share the architecture with Dodge Dart and Alfa Romeo Giulietta. With modern components, we can expect better handling, comfort and competive package for the new car. The new Chrysler 200 is a big boost for moderately popular sebring which was discontinued ealier. Scrapping Sebring name was probably a wise decision and Chrysler 200 sounds like a natural little brother to very well received Chrysler 300C.
Initially, it was rumoured that the Chrysler 200 would have the same 1.4 liter turbocharged engine like Dodge Dart but it seems more powerful engines are on offer. The two engine options available are 2.4 liter four cylinder Tigershark with 187 hp and an updated 3.6 liter V6 which now develops 300 hp. Both engines will be equipped with brand new ZF automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive as an option.
The interior has been given a huge boost as compared to the previous model. It has a floating center console with a big infotainment system. The blue car in picture is probably the sportier version and will get an «S» tag. In Europe it will be sold as Lancia Flavia. Price of the new Chrysler 200 will start at USD 21,700 which is much higher than entry level Dodge Dart.
